how exercise plans work
getting active
There's more to optimizing your health and happiness than eating right. Weight loss exercises are essential to living a healthier life. Physical activity also helps keep us mentally focused, energized and positive.
Taking a stroll is exercise
So is gardening. And so is taking the stairs instead of the elevator. You don't have to join a gym or train for a marathon to get the benefits of physical activity. You just need to do more of the physical activities you already enjoy.
Stay in motion
There are so many benefits to moving more.
- Burns calories
- Builds confidence—you'll look and feel better, and get more done
- Improves your metabolism, and can lower your blood pressure and cholesterol
- Relieves stress
Walk your way to health and happiness
Walking is a great way to get exercise without feeling like your exercising. Get outdoors and explore your neighborhood. Give your dog some exercise while you're at it. Find endless excuses to walk. Walk with a friend and make walking a regular social activity.
You should always consult your doctor before starting an exercise program, but, as a general guide, try to get some physical activity three times a week for at least 20 minutes each time.
