The more you move
the easier it gets
There's a snowball effect with physical activity. The more you move, the more you want to move. Cardiovascular exercise makes us feel more positive. And feeling good is a great momentum multiplier when you're making healthy lifestyle changes.
Begin with a manageable micro-program
Commit to exercising for 15 minutes a day—and stick to it until it feels effortless. Then add another five minutes.
Do what you love
If you don't enjoy it, you probably won't keep doing it. So look for ways to include activities that don't feel like exercise. Dance to your favorite playlist. Explore your neighborhood on foot while listening to an interesting audiobook. Or go for a ride on your bike.
Seek out activity
Try taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or parking in the far corner of the lot. Skip the email and stroll over to your coworker's desk. Include some walking time in your lunch break.
Make physical activities social activities
Find an activity buddy. Or make your activity time family time. Your walk or workout will fly by when you're spending quality time with family or friends.
